He loves me (Trifeca Trifextra Weekend Challenge)

He knows everything he loves either gets taken away or destroyed.

He loves me.

He promised I would never see the bullet.

He doesn't want me to be scared – he loves me.

~~~~~~~~~
While this is my offering for Trifecta's Weekend challenge -
"Write a horror story in 33 words, without the words blood, scream, died, death, knife, gun, or kill. Good luck."
most of my regular readers will also recognize this as the true story of the end of my relationship with the Wolf.  When I sat down to write it, I wasn't sure I would share it.  The very first draft, what I considered to be just getting the bones down to work around, was exactly 33 words ... so I let it be, and offer it to you.
Wretched ...
No, not another whiny post of me feeling sorry for myself, but my offering for this week's Trifecta Writing Challenge
The word for this week was wretched, being or appearing mean, miserable, or contemptible
~~~~~~~~~

The wind was howling. In its wake followed snow; the kind that manages to be wet and sharp all at the same time. The kind of snow that cuts right through your flesh down to your very core; down to your very soul.

It was a wretched day, and there seemed to be no escape from it. I darted from place to place. Each place I stopped offered the promise of shelter, but each time it was a hollow promise. There seemed to be no shelter anywhere from the misery. I was quickly losing my will to try. It would be easier to just stay where I was, give in to the bone chilling cold; easier to drift off to sleep, and never wake up.

The will to live was for the moment, however, stronger than the cold; stronger than the weariness gathering around me. I kept trying, kept seeking, kept going. Finally, I was rewarded. I found a spot, some shelter from the wind, seemingly made just for me. The spot was not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, but it was enough.

Sometimes, enough is better than any luxury.

I nestled in, gave thanks for the shelter, and weathered the storm.

Trifextra 5: 33 words

(Trifextra week 5 challenge: 33 words based on this image)

"Jawbone of an ass?" he asked with a smirk, pointing.

She laughed; a real laugh, from deep in the belly.

"Alas, poor Yorick ... a fellow of infinite jest" she replied.

Friday Fluff (Trifecta's Getting to know)

What is your name (real or otherwise)?
I write as Basinah.  It is a name laden with meaning for me, but if I gave away the secret meaning, it would defeat the purpose of a nom de plume, non?

Describe your writing style in three words.
Emotive.  Random.  Real.

How long have you been writing online?
I have been blogging since August 2009.

Which, if any, other writing challenges do you participate in?
 None.  You are my first *blush*

Describe one way in which you could improve your writing.
Continue to practice.  Submit to a forum where I will get honest feedback and constructive criticism, not simple praise. (Well Hello there!)

What is the best writing advice you’ve ever been given?
To write the first draft freely without judging, and edit later.

Who is your favorite author?
How does anyone pick just one?  Patrick Rothfuss.  George R R Martin.  Vince Flynn.  So many I have not met yet ...  (my mom was a school teacher who became a librarian; a voracious appetite for books may be genetic)

How do you make time to write?
I spend a fair bit of time on the road, and I think; random thoughts swirl around the subconscious while my forebrain keeps me and others safe.  When the thoughts coalesce, I scramble for a keyboard or a piece of paper, and set them free.  They get edited and polished as time permits.

Give us one word we should consider using as a prompt.

hes·i·tate

verb (used without object), -tat·ed, -tat·ing.
1.
to be reluctant or wait to act because offear, indecision, or disinclination: She hesitated to take the job.
2.
to have scruples or doubts; be unwilling: Hehesitated to break the law.
3.
to pause: I hesitated before reciting the next line.
4.
to falter in speech; stammer: Embarrassmentcaused the speaker to hesitate.

Direct us to one blog post of yours that we shouldn't miss reading.
I found this a fascinating exercise.  As I read over some previous posts trying to pick one, many emotions washed over me. Especially touching to me was a post more than a year old where I was hurting, and there were comments from my beautiful Sarge Charlie, who has now stood down from his battle with cancer, and rests in a well deserved peace.
If you look at the "cast of Characters" page you will find links that will fill in some of the back story for you, but here, I am going to offer you this post; which upon re-reading now held a whole different meaning.

Perspective ... (Trifecta Wk 15)

After gentle prompting from karen, I have decided to participate in the Trifecta Writing Challenge.

This week's prompt was:
fool
noun \ˈfül\

I chose to focus on the second half of the definition given.  Please, let me know your thoughts.

I lie here, curled in my bed, tail tucked over my nose, watching and listening to the two-legs that live with me.

They think that because I don't speak their language, I don't understand. I think that because I don't speak their language, I understand more than they do.

Fools.

I see their body language. I hear the subtle undertones in the words they speak to one another. I hear what they are really saying. They don't see that, or pretend they don't. In truth, I think their shared spoken language causes them to misunderstand each other more often than not.

Fools.

They think my love is simple. I think they make their love more complicated than it needs to be. Love simply is.

Fools.
