Mom, why does she cry?

A friend of mine has a teenage son who is autistic.  Her son asked her yesterday "Mom, why does (B) cry on Remembrance Day?"

My friend replied "Because she was engaged to a man, and he went away to war. When he came back from the war he was different; she still loves him, but they can't be together any more.  So she cries because she misses the man he used to be."

Couldn't have summed it up better myself.

  1. sending light and love to you, Basinah. I thought of you on the 11th ... as well as some other family members who've paid dearly for war.

  2. I wish it could be different for you, but it is what it is. He has demons to conquer and you are much better being away and letting him sort it out for himself...if he can. My tears are for them all. And my hatred for those who cause it and those who want let the troops do their job for fear of media whiplash. Hugs to you and cry all you want. My shoulder absorbs much moisture.
